Sports betting was illegal in most of the U.S. just a few years ago. Now, it’s become a $450 billion industry. Before today, I had never placed a bet in my life. But with sports betting exploding, I needed to understand what was really going on. So, I put $500 on the line and went head-to-head with a self-proclaimed degenerate gambler to see what would happen. Along the way, I talked to a professional bettor banned from nearly every platform, and uncovered how these apps use psychological tricks to keep people hooked.
