Ord Minnett Senior Private Wealth Advisor David Lane reveals how previous Powerball winners burnt through all their winnings as Australians are set to take part in Thursday’s record $200 million jackpot.

“It can be obviously exciting,” Mr Lane told Sky News Australia.

“Particularly if you’re in a situation where you haven’t had a significant amount of money in the past and (are) unaware of how to manage that money.

“And you want to go and tell all your family and friends, and sometimes that’s actually the wrong thing to do.

“Very often, they’re the people who can take advantage of you.”
