EA Sports’ beloved college football game is returning to next-gen consoles.
The game developer announced on Tuesday via Twitter that they will return to making games in their college football series. The last college football game they produced was NCAA Football ’14, released in 2013.

EA was light on details for the next release, including when the game would come out. EA Sports vice president Daryl Holt told that the game would not come out this year, but didn’t specify if they had a release date in mind.

There had been discussions internally about relaunching the game, considering it was still a top seller at the time the company discontinued the franchise. They will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which were both came out in 2020.

NCAA rules currently stipulate that college athletes’ names and likeness still can’t be used in video games, which has long been a point of contention. Former UCLA basketball player Ed O’Bannon famously sued the NCAA and Collegiate Licensing Company, a suit that was eventually taken to the Supreme Court.
