Free NHL Pick | Bruins vs Capitals | Sports Betting Tips

The 2022-2023 NHL season kicks off when the Boston Bruins visit the Washington Capitals on
Wednesday October 12th at 7:00 PM EST.
The Boston Bruins will kick off their season after being eliminated last year by the Carolina
Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs. They finished their regular season with a record of 51-
26-5, finishing 4th in the Atlantic Division and earning the first wild card spot for the playoffs with
107 points.
David Pastrnak is starting his 7th season with the Bruins, and currently ranks 5th in the NHL in goals
and 6th on shots on goal since the 2016-2017 season. Patrice Bergeron had elbow surgery last May
but was one of six players last season with 65 points and 250 shots last season.
Boston finished their preseason on a 3-3 record, scoring 13 goals and conceding 14 goals for a -1
differential and will start the regular season with some key injuries. Starting left wing and
alternate captain Brad Marchand will be out of action at least until late November after having
surgery in the offseason and defenseman Charlie McAvoy will also be out of action for a prolonged
time after shoulder surgery. These two players accounted for 136 points last season for the Bruins.
The Bruins were underdogs last season 26 times and only won 9 of those games, scoring 249 goals
per game (3.0 per game) finishing ranked 17th and allowed only 222 goals all season (2.7 per
game), ranking 4th in the NHL.
The Washington Capitals 2021-2022 season also came to an end in the first round of the playoff
after losing to the Florida Panthers in six games. They finished 4th in the Metropolitan Division,
with a 44-26-12 record, good enough to capture the second wild card of the Eastern Division.
The Washington Capitals are led by Alexander Ovechkin who ranked 4th last season in goals last
season with 50 and is the NHL leader in goals and shots on goals over the past 5 seasons combined
and overall finished 16th in points for the season with 90 and have a top 5 defender in John
Carlson. Carlson finished fifth in points (78), fourth in goals (17) among NHL defensemen last
season
The Capitals pre-season record was 4-2 after scoring 17 goals and conceding 12 and are also
sporting some key injuries in alternate captain and Centre Nicklas Backstrom out with a hip injury,
with no return date established, and right winger Tom Wilson out while recovering from his ACL
injury. Heis not expected to return to action at least until December.
Washington was able to win 30 of their 54 games last season when favorite and finished last
season with an average of 3.3 goals per game for 10th in the league and allowed 242 goals (3.0 per
game) ranking them 12th for the season in this category.
Eventhough both teams are coming banged up to the season opener, Washington finished their
preseason on a high note and with Boston having so many stars out with injury we will pick the
Washington Capitals -143.
