Telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and BSNL have already started rolling out the feature in different states. It began with testing in a few circles and is gradually spreading across the country. Many users will start seeing caller names automatically, without downloading any app or turning on anything special.

The main purpose of CNAP is to reduce scam and spam calls. A lot of fraud in India happens over phone calls, especially when callers hide their identity. With verified names appearing, it should be easier for people to decide whether to answer a call. It also reduces dependence on third-party caller-ID apps, which can sometimes share user data.

There will also be an option for people who do not want their name displayed. The rollout is expected to continue over the next few months, and most users should have access to it once all networks finish enabling the feature. Overall, CNAP is meant to make mobile calling safer, more transparent, and more trustworthy.
