If you needed an excuse to get a lottery ticket, here you go. Apparently today, July 17th, is National Lottery Day!

For today, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype, made in the 1930s, from the Bill Gaylord Collection. The electrotype depicts an individual striking it rich and holding a very large coin. The text below, typeset in 30 point Caslon font, reads, “National Lottery Day.” This was printed with purple oil base ink using our Washington hand press.
