Sports betting kicks off in Baltimore area

More than a year after it was approved on the ballot, legalized sports betting is now open in Maryland. Two more sports books are officially starting taking bets in the state Friday. Sports betting in Maryland got underway Thursday at MGM National Harbor, and on Friday, people will be able to place bets at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore and Live Casino in Hanover, Anne Arundel County. Maryland joins dozens of other states that already offer legalized sports betting. In November 2020, 67% of voters in the state approved the measure and Gov. Larry Hogan signed it into law earlier this year.
