Tropical Storm Kirk nearing hurricane strength, another tropical system may form soon

Yesterday, Tropical Depression 12 became Tropical Storm Kirk. Kirk is looking healthy Tuesday afternoon and is nearing hurricane strength, and will likely become a hurricane later today. In fact, the National Hurricane Center believes Kirk will become a major hurricane, that's a Category 3 or higher storm, over the next couple of days. Fortunately, the system is forecast to turn to the north, and the current forecast track poses no threat to land.
