Ukraine obliterated 7 Russian S-400 systems in one go with massive strikes using Neptune missiles

Recently, Ukraine used Long Neptune missiles against targets in Russia, employing a modified launcher mounted on a Tatra chassis. Engineers installed square transport-and-launch containers for two Neptun missiles due to the increased length of the missile itself. The new launchers have been supplied to the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Researcher MT Anderson, analyzing satellite images of Novorossiysk dated November 11, said that there were seven S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems in the area where the attack was carried out before the Ukrainian attack.

"The attack with the Neptune missiles affected both the oil terminal and the S-400 launcher. We are now waiting for the 'follow-up' images to see what exactly was targeted and how effective the S-400 defenses were," Anderson notes.

Monitoring channel Exilenova+ reports that if satellite images confirm the strike, it would be considered the largest mass attack on Russian air defense systems.

The attack could also change the military balance in the region and seriously damage Russia's strategic defense capabilities.

According to available data, the length of the Long Neptune is over 6 meters without the booster. This means that it is approximately 1.5 meters longer than the standard R-360. In addition, it has increased not only in length but also in diameter: the central section of the R-360L measures roughly 50 cm, compared to 38 cm in the standard variant. The wingspan has also been increased. The new launcher also uses an 8×8 wheeled Tatra 815-7 chassis. However, it appears to have been slightly lengthened, and several components behind the cab have been removed, providing more space for the transport-and-launch containers. At the same time, the cab appears to have remained the same.

Recall, recently, explosions were recorded in Novorossiysk overnight on 14 November as Ukrainian forces conducted a combined missile and drone strike on the Russian Black Sea port city, 300-400 km from the southern sections of the frontline in Ukraine. Fires were observed at an oil terminal and military installations, with video footage, satellite imagery, and local reports confirming multiple impact sites across the area.

The attack is part of Ukraine’s ongoing deep-strike campaign in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Kyiv employs drones and missiles to hit fuel facilities, defense plants, energy infrastructure, and military sites across Russia and occupied territories. Oil refineries, depots, and fuel transport infrastructure have been among the key targets, aiming to disrupt Moscow’s military fuel logistics and undermine oil export revenues that finance the war.
