Alexandra explains what a point spread bet is. In sports betting, each game is given a point spread. A. point spread is a bet on the margin of victory for that particular sporting event. For example, if a the Kansas City Chiefs are -6.5 to the Green Bay Packers, the Kansas City Chiefs would need to win by 7 or more points for you to win your bet if you bet on the Chiefs -6.5. If you bet on the Green Bay Packers at +6.5, you would need the Packers to lose by 6 or less, or win the game in order for you to win your bet. If the Packers lose by 7 or more, you would lose your bet. Point spread betting takes two teams that are not equal and gives an opportunity for them to be equal when betting on a spread to be covered.

Investing in your sports betting education is critical to becoming a successful sports bettor. Point spread betting is one of the many terms used in sports betting that bettors need to be familiar with, and more importantly, understand.
