World’s richest lottery winner Edwin Castro accused of STEALING winning ticket

THE man who is suing Powerball winner Edwin Castro claiming he cashed in his stolen ticket worth $2.04billion has revealed he is still playing the lottery.

Jose Rivera, 43, appeared in court last Friday charged with filing a false police report but his civil case is still ongoing.

He claims his former landlord, Urachi F. Romero, stole the winning ticket before it ended up in Castro's hands.

He was announced as the winner in February of the largest-ever jackpot following the November draw.

Both men have strenuously denied the claims, while the California Lottery Commission, which is also named as a defendant, has always maintained Castro is the real winner.

Despite a difficult year going through the court process and the story making headlines, Rivera is still feeling lucky.

Asked if he is still playing the lottery, he said: "Yes I am. But one thing I don't like about them is they're covering it up.

"Just give me my footage of the purchase of the ticket, you guys know that I'm the rightful winner."

He claims he regularly went into Joe's Service Center in Altadena to buy coffee, donuts, and tickets.

On the day of the purchase, he says he went in the store between 6.45 am and 7.15 am and bought lottery tickets along with 20 Malboro Lights.
